April Meeting:  Canceled

To the membership of the Mount Sinai Civic Association:

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, the meeting scheduled for Monday 4/6 has been cancelled.  We are hoping to meet in May, but will advise as the current situation develops and follow State and Federal guidance moving forward.

As nominations are due for the Executive Board in April, we have put forward the following slate, which will be voted on at our next meeting. Nominations from the membership are welcome – we currently have a board member serving in two roles, so we would welcome a nomination for Corresponding Secretary.

As of now our slate is as follows:

President – Ann Becker

Vice President – Brad Arrington

Corresponding Secretary – Brad Arrington

Recording Secretary – Maureen Bond

Treasurer – Monica Stone

Membership Secretary – Jennifer Roth

The Civic Board is still tracking current developments and maintaining contact with our local elected officials as needed.

We are happy to report that the homeless encampment behind King Kullen has been dispersed, thanks to the hard work on the COPE officers and Suffolk Police Department, as well as the new owners of the property, who stepped up to take the appropriate legal action needed.  Attorney Steve Losquadro was also instrumental in facilitating this action, and we thank the resident who brought this unfortunate situation to our attention.

We have also been assured that the new owners of the property approved for a millennial housing development on Route 25A have committed to building the project as approved, which includes the community benefit as outlined in the covenants for the property.

We are all hoping that this crisis ends soon and extend our wishes that everyone stays healthy!
